I just watched a video showing guys how to turn their girlfriends into gamers. I was intrigued and I started watching it because I wanted to see what suggestions this girl had. Her first tip was for guys to cater to the girl's personality, which is
right. However, I somewhat disagree with the rest of the tips.

Her suggestion to slowly reel girls into gaming with games that aren't really that great to begin with, will not get her to play. Suggesting games like Mario Party 8 and UNO (Come on. Just buy the cards). The other games she suggested were good. Geometry Wars, Guitar Hero 3, Super Smash Bros Brawl and WoW are all good suggestions.

Cute characters don't always get girls to play. It will get boring after a while. Try to get her to play Final Fantasy. That would be an awesome game to start with. RPGs as she suggested are good and so are puzzle games.

Her last tip, in my opinion, is completely ridiculous. She suggested that guys let the girl win. That's not going to make the girl feel better about her gaming skills. If she decides to play with other guy friends or other girls, she's going to lose. That's going to make her not want to play anymore. Letting her win will not make her into a better gamer at all.

Gaming

I've been reading a few articles and blogs lately about female gamers, and there was one that I found particularly brilliant. Here is the link to her blog entry: http://4thegirlgamers.blogspot.com/2006/11/whats-wrong-with-female-gaming.html It's a bit on the long side, but it's a very interesting entry. I totally agreed with her on all her points. The truth is, we are making it worse for ourselves when we label ourselves as "Girl Gamers". I admit that I was one of them. I never really announced it or played someone online and told them I was a girl, but I have mentioned it in conversations with friends. This label is not necessary. Calling myself a "Girl Gamer" gives me a disadvantage. Some people have a preconceived notion that girls who play games are soft. Just to add to that, some women parade themselves in skimpy outfits and call themselves "Girl Gamers". This kind of behavior is not helping anyone and it's just hurting the chances that female gamers have of fitting into the gaming community. We don't need to do this. Just play. Just enjoy yourselves.
I was on the rode the other day and there was this woman who wanted to turn right into my lane. She went way to far and her car was sticking out into the road. I almost hit her. She was also on her cell. Seriously, get a headset. There are plenty out there that are below a hundred dollars. It's much cheaper than getting into an accident.
Rude Customers

I was grocery shopping at one of the Asian stores near my house and I finally tried a Taro Bubble tea. I've heard that it tastes really good, but I just hadn't bought one. I've always gotten Chai Tea and the Chocolate milk bobas. When I took a sip of it, it reminded me of something I've had before. I was thinking to myself, "Maybe I HAVE tasted this before..." The reason why I thought this was because the first time I had a boba tea was when I was living in Singapore. I remembered always ordering the purple-colored boba tea.
Anyways...I tasted it and it was great. One of the best bobas I have ever tasted!! I will definitely make it one of my regular bobas :)

On a totally different subject, there was a really rude gentleman in the store today. I was standing in line and the woman and her friend were obviously having trouble with their purchase. I couldn't understand them because they were speaking in another language. The guy looked around for the closest store employee and told him that they should open another cash register because the line was getting long. When that didn't work, he told the cashier the same thing (He repeated his complaint multiple times). Honestly, he should have gone to another line, because the other registers were open. Geez -___- Some people are just so difficult to deal with. Another guy who was at the register next to us seemed fed up with the rude man's behavior that he let him cut in front of him so he would stop complaining.
I've been a huge fan of "The Office". But lately it hasn't been as funny as the first couple seasons. I was bored one day and I started browsing through the shows on YouTube. I happened upon this web original called "The Guild" Here is their official YouTube webpage: http://www.youtube.com/show?p=eYROA5iyqDw&pl=DDAF3ED6327064D5

It's told in the same way that "The Office" is, and it's about a group of gamers. This is the reason why I was sucked into it. Never have I seen a show geared towards gamers. It's a really funny show with hilarious characters. You guys should totally watch this if you aren't watching it already :)
